My Glittery Christmas Tree Quilt

Hi ,

It’s finally time to start quilting my Christmas Tree Quilt! Two years ago I pieced this massive green and glittery quilt for fun and to experiment with every kind of glittery fabric I could find.

I couldn’t wait to start quilting my Christmas Tree quilt, but then our basement flooded and life got in the way of finishing this project. Now two years later, it was finally time to get this Christmas Tree unfolded and on my frame.

I’ve picked several quilting designs and some fun techniques to play with and over the next few weeks I’m going to share videos on how I’m quilting this wall hanging.

Let’s dive right in and see how I’m quilting the most important part – the big Christmas Tree with pretty 2-inch feathers using the Feather Quilting Ruler.

Quilting Feathers with Rulers in My Christmas Tree Quilt

Click Here to find the Feather Ruler I used in this video. In spaces like this, I like my feathers to stack up perfectly and remain the same size. This ruler will help you create 2 inch feathers off a straight vine line or seam line.

Nope, this isn't a Quilt Along and I'm not offering this big Christmas tree quilt as a pattern. This is just a fun series of videos to inspire you with ideas for your quilts. I plan to do a good bit of ruler quilting, some computerized quilting, and some ole' fashioned free motion quilting too.

Warning - Making Christmas Tree Blocks can be very addictive!

Oh, I just realized I have something else to try - Wonky Christmas Trees pieced with glitter fabric. That will be super cheerful and fun and a terrific way to experiment with more glittery material!

Check out my quilting system with the Qnique 21 and Continuum Frame. Yep, I still love this setup, though I’m thinking hard about breaking down my frame again and expanding it another 2 feet to be a 12 foot frame.

I have recently upgraded to QCT 5 Pro, and yes, I am planning to use QCT designs in my big Christmas Tree quilt. You can use Beginnings or Pro for the technique I’ll be sharing.

As always, there is so many fun things to try with quilting. I love being able to mix and match techniques and explore new materials and methods for making beautiful projects. I'm not sure this glitter fabric is going to work out, but it sure is fun to play!
