Technically this is a mash up of Pointy
Paisleyand Paisley - two Oldie Goldie designs from the Free Motion Quilting Project.
When quilting from the center to create a flower motif, I think these designs work well together. The key with the triangles is to keep the straight lines straight and I found this harder to do on my longarm than my home machine.
Of course I could have
attached a ruler foot and used a ruler to keep these triangles in line, but sometimes it's fun to see what will happen free hand.
Just in case you've never heard that term - free hand free motion quilting is quilting with no props, lines, or aids. No marking, no rulers, just your hands and your machine making up the design on your quilt.
And yeah... that sometimes turns out messy!
I mentioned in the quilting video that this design would be a great choice to digitize for Quilter's Creative Touch. I had a bit of time this week and decided to try it.
This
flower design really looks incredible when stitched like this. I want to give this a try on a really large scale on a baby quilt for Betty.
If you can't free motion quilt or you don't like the idea of an imperfect quilting result, you can always quilt this design with your computerized quilting system. I've exported this design in multiple file types so it will stitch with
any quilting system.
