So what has changed with Quilter's Creative Touch 6? How does it help us quilt our quilts?

In this newsletter, I'm answering many of the questions I've been getting via email about QCT 6 and help you better understand how our computerized quilting system has changed. It's simpler and cheaper to begin and you can upgrade at any time to expand your abilities and designs.  Let's learn more!

What is included with Quilter's Creative Touch 6?

When you purchase QCT 6 you'll receive:

• Quilter's Creative Touch Software
• Motor plate to move your machine
• Drive belts for your frame
• Bracket to support your computer tablet
• Cord management system
• Assembly guide

Here's my assembly video way back when we had QCT 4. The process of adding this system to your frame has changed a bit since I made this video in 2019. I'm planning to make a new video just as soon as I receive my Little Rebel and Cutie Breeze frame!

You'll use the hardware - motor plate, drive belts, and brackets - to upgrade your quilting frame to a computerized quilting system. Then install the software on a Windows based tablet to begin quilting.

How is QCT 6 Different from QCT 5?

With QCT 5, we had three levels of the software: QCT 5 Beginnings, QCT 5 PRO, and QCT 5 PRO + GOLD CARD. Each level unlocks more designs and features within the software.

With QCT 6, we now have 4 levels of the software, which makes it more affordable and simpler for beginners to learn the basics. Here's a list of what each level of the software can do:

QCT 6 - New Base Level - This simplest version of QCT can quilt edge-to-edge pantographs only. It's designed to help you cover your quilt with a single design very quickly stitched from left to right across your quilt.

Choose from over 100 built-in designs, set your safe area, then place the design on your quilt. New alignment guides in QCT 6 make it easier to quilt pantographs on a hoop frame - even when shifting the quilt side to side.

QCT 6 Plus - This is the new name for QCT 5 Beginnings. With this software level you'll be able to design and quilt more complex pantographs. You'll also have the Select & Sew tool which allows you to select a single design, like a quilt block or triangle design, and place it precisely on your quilt.

Many quilters love to purchase quilting designs, and with QCT 6 Plus, you'll have the ability to import designs. I used QCT 5 Beginnings (now QCT 6 Plus) to quilt this Basket Weave quilt. Click Here to find this quilting mini series:

QCT 6 PRO - You've probably guessed - this is the new version of QCT 5 PRO. All the same features you love - fine tune abilities for pantographs, record and quilt designs automatically, and design your own patterns and quilt layouts using Quilt CAD and Pattern CAD.

QCT 6 PRO + Gold Card Access - Adding a Gold Card to QCT 6 PRO unlocks the highest level of the software and in my opinion, the very most powerful and useful quilting features like multi-pattern placement and Quilting eClipse. Here's a video of how I use Quilting eClipse to cut out a feather block so it stitches around a daisy shape:

Will I Be Happy With QCT 6?

I've gotten this question more times than I can count in the last few months! Yes, I do think this level of the software will be very fun and easy to use and will keep you quilting happily for many months or years.

And please know that you aren't locked to any particularly level of Quilter's Creative Touch software. You can upgrade anytime!

When Will QCT 5 Update to QCT 6?

If you already own QCT 5, you will be able to update your system to QCT 6 after November 16th. This means if you own QCT 5 Beginnings, you will update in November to have QCT 6 Plus. If you have QCT 5 PRO, you will update to have QCT 6 PRO.

BUT - if you are quilting on a home sewing machine with QCT 5, do not update.

The one limiting feature of QCT 6 is it's only compatible with Qnique longarms and the Little Rebel sewing machine. Grace Company is working on compatibility, but it may be a few more months before QCT 6 is set up to work with more home sewing machines.

What Do I Love Best About Computerized Quilting?

I love the creativity and control I have over my quilting stitches. I love being able to quilt precise designs without death-gripping a quilting ruler. I love finishing my quilts faster!

When I began quilting, my only option was to quilt using my home sewing machine on a table. I did this for years and definitely mastered the art of maneuvering quilts of all sizes through home machines.

When I switched to longarm quilting on a frame, the machine quilting process felt so much easier, but my quilting precision went out the window. 

I still don't have the same level of control over my quilting stitches because I haven't practiced enough. I know from experience that it takes dozens of quilts to master travel stitching, dozens of quilts to master echoing, and I just haven't had time.

This is what I love about computerized quilting the most - I don't have to wait.

I don't have to practice for hours and hours, quilt after quilt. I can pick a design, place it properly, and let my machine stitch perfectly. I love digitizing designs and the new creative freedom I've gained from computerized quilting.

We are so lucky to be able to use technology so affordably and be able to machine quilt our quilts so easily. If you want to finish your quilts yourself and right now, computerized quilting is the way to go!
