Are you in the mood to kick back at your sewing machine and stitch a quilt block that doesn't require any math or planning?

These Wonky Christmas Tree quilt blocks can be pieced in a day! This is improv quilting - no math, no measuring - just cut your fabrics and start piecing!

Christmas Tree Quilt Materials List

This is a no math quilt, or improv quilting pattern, so we don't have an exact fabric or cutting list. This is a list of the fabrics I used to make many Christmas tree wall hanging quilts:

• 10 Fat Quarters (18 x 21 inch rectangles) in various colors and prints. Directional prints make these tree quilt blocks extra pretty!
• 1/3-yard of brown fabric for tree trunks
• 1 - 3 yards of gray fabric for the background
• 1 - 2 yards of white fabric for the border and binding
• Backing fabric
• Batting
• Piecing Thread and Machine Quilting Thread
• Sewing machine
• Rotary cutter, Long Cutting Ruler, Cutting mat

I used 5 fat quarters of bright fabrics and 5 black and white prints and ended up making over 2 dozen Christmas Tree quilt blocks.

Because you can make 2 quilt blocks at a time, this pattern could make several quilts. It just depends on if you're wanting to piece wall hanging quilts or throws.

Now let's learn how to piece the blocks together with "snow" to create a fun Christmas quilt:

As I mentioned at the end of this video, you don't have to turn the edges of your fabric under. You could always add a 1 inch strip of fusible web to the edge of the blocks, cut with a curvy ruler, then fuse the blocks to the strip of white fabric.

That would probably be the way I would make this quilt today!
