You may need to adjust your quilting frame slightly after attaching your ruler base. If you roll the longarm forward and find the ruler base is striking the front rail, simply loosen the set screws on your quilting frame and adjust your front rail outward.
Once adjusted, having a ruler base on your machine should not reduce your quilting space at all.
On a Cutie Frame,
you can use the instructions in your manual to change the side towers of your frame to set up for a larger longarm. This will give you more space for the ruler base to fit without limiting your quilting space.
Once attached, there is no reason to remove your
ruler base. Leave it attached all the time so all you'll need to do is attach a ruler foot and grab a ruler to begin ruler quilting on your longarm!
