Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and are excited about making beautiful quilts with me in 2025. To kick off, I have a question:

Do you have a list of the quilts you want to create in 2025? This is sort of like a bucket list or a To-Make list. 

Last year I decided to focus on making easy baby quilts for Betty from precut charm packs. Working with precuts was a fun challenge - I had to give up control over the fabric colors and figure out how to piece within the numbers of squares included in the precut pack. 

And making the quilt list was successful - I made several quilts for Betty that were perfect for her crib and you can make them too from these tutorials:

But wouldn't you know it - in less than a year, Betty has grown out of her crib and is a big girl in a twin sized bed. I need to make a whole new quilt list for 2025!

I hope you'll take some time in this first week of the new year to make your Quilt List and consider which beds, kids, grandkids, or friends are needing a new quilt and a good size to make them. I have many bigger quilts in mind which leads me perfectly into a free quilt pattern I've recently updated:

Make a Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt - Any Size

It seems no matter what size I share a free quilt pattern, there's always a quilter that wants to make it... just bigger!

When possible, I'm now updating my patterns to include multiple quilt sizes. Sometimes this gets tricky with fabric calculations, and this definitely adds more time to the process. I hope that you'll enjoy this resource and share these patterns with your friends, quilt guilds, quilt bees, and charity groups.

I originally created our Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt using 20 Fat Quarters to create a 52-inch throw quilt:

This week I've updated the pattern to include an additional piecing method using precut 5-inch charm squares. Piecing with precuts is much faster and can quickly create a Disappearing 9 Patch Quilt in any size you like.

To make this even easier, I've also added a size chart when using the 5-inch charm squares. Using this chart, you can quickly see how many squares you'll need, how many 9 Patch Blocks to Piece and the layout (number of cut blocks per row and number of rows) for any size of quilt.
