Easy Rainbow Stars Quilt Pattern

Published: Wed, 07/20/16

Hi ,

It's the height of summer, at least in our neck of the woods, and the tomatoes are ripe, the mosquitoes ravenous, and all the baby chicks hatched in the spring are now fluffed up and roaming the yard. It seems like the perfect time to host a big sale!

You can save 10% off almost everything in our online quilt shop starting today.

So what does "almost everything" mean? It means everything except Affordable Tables and Custom inserts are on sale. Unfortunately we can't discount the tables and inserts, but we can put everything else in the site on sale, which is what we've done for this weekend only.

This is a great time to stock up on thread and quilting supplies, books, and video workshops. Also don't forget that all US customers get free shipping on all orders over $100.

Your support of our quilt shop helps us continue making free videos and quilt patterns each week. We really appreciate your support!
Twin Rainbow Stars Free Quilt Pattern
What is better than piecing a super fast, super easy rainbow star quilt?

How about piecing TWO?!

This week I've shared a new free quilt pattern for the Twin Rainbow Stars Quilt that features very easy piecing, and the best part is you end up with two small quilt tops in very little time.

These little quilts measure 32 inches each and are SO fast to piece together. I think they will make a great project for charity quilts or anyone you know that's having twin babies.

Of course, with two quilts pieced, we now have the fun job of deciding how to quilt them both. Keep your eyes peeled for next week's newsletter when I share tips for machine quilting them both!
Facebook Live Event
Last week we tried our first Facebook Live event on the Machine Quilting Block Party and had a great time chatting with quilters from around the world.

Now we're planning a new event for the Leah Day Quilting Facebook Group and it's scheduled for this Friday, July 22nd at 4 pm EST. I'll share a few updates of fun things we're working on and then answer your questions for 30 minutes.
How it works: First you need to join the Leah Day Quilting Facebook Group.

On Friday at 4 pm EST, you'll get a notification that the group has a live event going on. Tap the "click for more" link to see the video full screen and to post questions.

If you're watching on a tablet or phone, make sure to rotate vertically so you can post questions too. I can't wait to hang out and chat with you all.

Don't worry if you can't make this day and time. We'll definitely be doing more live casts in the future and we will publish the video to the group so you'll be able to see it anytime.
Dad's Cabin Fever Quilt
Last week I shared the piecing tutorial for our Cabin Fever block and included an image of what an entire quilt would look like created from just this one block.

The next day Dad told me how much he loved that quilt design and wanted to make one for himself. Color me delighted! I showed Dad the basics of using EQ7, and he played around with fabric colors and the design for a few hours until he was happy with it.

He expanded it to 42 blocks so it would fit a queen sized bed. He then went above and beyond and played around with borders as well until he came up with this beautiful quilt, pictured below:
As you can see, Dad added bright yellow cornerstones and sashing and a lot more colors to the block design. Now I know where my love of bright colors comes from. I'm super excited to see this quilt come together and we'll be sharing his progress each week as he works on this big project.

So that's it for this week. Make sure to check out our Summer Sale at LeahDay.com and save on supplies that will help you quilt through the rest of the summer.

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
