New Block Pattern and Connecting Instructions

Published: Thu, 09/01/16

Hi ,

Ready for the next block in the Machine Quilting Block Party? So far we've pieced and quilted eight pretty blocks and this month we're starting the 9th block - Star Crossed.

For September we will learn a new piecing technique - paper piecing!

We'll also get more practice quilting circles and Sharp Stippling in free motion, with lots of opportunity for walking foot fun with straight lines to emphasize the Star Crossed design.

This month's pattern also includes instructions for trimming and connecting the blocks together.
At this point we can put three rows of the quilt together so you'll be able to see the beautiful design taking shape over the surface.

With the pattern for Block #9 released, we're officially 3/4s through the Machine Quilting Block Party and the Sunshine Surprise quilt is taking shape.
How to Make Bell-Bottom Pants
My Quilty Box for August arrived a few weeks ago and included a beautiful collection of denim fabric. I decided it was time to create a tutorial for bell-bottom pants or flare pants that I used to make all the time when I was a kid.

The jean material came in a beautiful array of fall colors. I choose to add the flares to my pants using the purple fabric, and I'm tempted to add machine embroidered flowers with the green! Click Here to learn about Quilty Box.

I've shared a lot more details and tips for sewing bell-bottoms right here at LeahDay.com
Announcing a New Goddess Quilt
Yes, I've started a new goddess art quilt over the weekend and I'm loving the design and construction process.

I love starting new goddess quilts, and I always love the design process, but it's easy for me to get stuck when trying to finish these quilts. Dream Goddess is still on my sewing table with only a tiny bit of sky left to quilt and...I'm not really sure why I haven't finished it yet!

Maybe by bringing in the energy of beginning a new goddess quilt, I'll be able to finish the old one. At least that's what I'm hoping!

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
