Fast Irish Chain Quilt Pattern

Published: Wed, 09/21/16

Hi ,

Do you need a quick and easy quilt project this month? I received my Quilty Box for September last week and I've already pieced a beautiful Double Irish Chain with the awesome fat quarters included in the box.

That's right - I pieced this 50 inch quilt in just three days!

While the piecing design looks complex, it's actually a very simple combination of two blocks. The best part is you can knock out the blocks very quickly with strip piecing and cutting.

Free Motion Quilting Can Feel Easy
Have you been struggling with free motion quilting? So many beginners fall victim to the false idea that free motion is "advanced," complicated, or that it requires a long arm sewing machine. All of this is simply not true!

Here's the secret to free motion quilting on a regular, domestic machine... practice, practice, practice!

And it also helps to have the right basic tools.

When I started free motion quilting, I had only one tool: a set of Machingers gloves. From the very first time I tried them on, I noticed a huge difference in my control and comfort while quilting.

Many years later, I stumbled across the Supreme Slider and Little Genie Magic Bobbin Washers. At the time I was struggling with constant thread breaks and a feeling that the large quilt was "stuck" in my little machine.
After only 5 minutes, I knew my investment in these tools was worth it. Not only did my thread stop breaking, I noticed minor tension issues I'd been struggling with had suddenly disappeared. The quilt was also far easier to move, even in the 5-inch harp I was working in.

All three of my most essential tools are bundled in the Ultimate Quilting Kit, the perfect set of tools to help ease you into free motion quilting.

Practice and repetition are the most important things to mastering free motion quilting, and there is no better way to learn than with printable practice sheets of easy free motion filler designs.

BONUS - We are now including a set of ten practice worksheets so you can get the practice you need plus the right tools to make free motion quilting easier for you to master.

So that's it for this week. Enjoy creating a fast and easy Double Irish Chain Quilt and be sure to share your progress on the Leah Day Quilting Facebook Group.

Let's go quilt,
