Finish Your Wonky Christmas Tree Quilt with Snow!

Published: Wed, 12/28/16

Hi ,

Only five days to go until January 1st!

Do you have your fabric ready? Click Here to find the materials list so you're ready to go on the first day.

This is such an exciting time and I have SO much to teach you this year. There's so many surprises in store and I'm bursting at the seams to share them all right now.

As you can tell, I'm super pumped up about this new mystery quilt along and I can't wait to jump in and get started piecing and quilting together on this new project.

I'll be sharing new pics each day on the Free Motion Quilting Project blog until January 1st and then the first two weeks will kick off with new posts and tip videos every single day. If you're serious about learning how to machine quilt this year, this is the block-of-the-month project for you.

But wait...why does the page for the new Machine Quilting Block Party say "Out of Stock?"

The pattern for Block #1 will go on sale on January 1st. We've set up the page early so you can check out the materials list and see what our first block is going to look like.

Quilting Fun with Mary Fons
I'm pleased to announce episode 7 of the podcast featuring a super fun interview with Mary Fons, the daughter of Marianne Fons, who started Fons and Porter.

Mary such a amazing all-around person, and we hit it off at Quilt Market so well I knew I had to have her on my podcast.

You can check out Mary's website at MaryFons.com.

This podcast really runs the gamut on conversations and many topics, but I would say the overall theme is just love of quilting, love of making quilts, and Mary helps debunk a few of the myths of quilting.

Finish Your Wonky Christmas Tree Quilt
Last week I used the fabric in this month's Quilty Box to make dozens of Wonky Christmas Tree quilt blocks.

This week I want to turn these blocks into Christmas quilt tops in all shapes and sizes so they'll be easy to quilt and finish in time for Christmas next year.

I've already gotten a head start and finished one quilt top so I can show you how to connect the blocks together.

I love the curvy snow effect of this quilt. It's a bit of work to create that effect, but I think it's totally worth it.

Stay tuned for January 1st, this coming Sunday, when our new Machine Quilting Block Party will go live. We'll also be sending out another newsletter so you can jump right into the party and get started on the first day.

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
