Improve Your Machine Quilting Skills in 2017

Published: Sun, 01/01/17

Hi ,

Welcome to a new year filled with beautiful quilts, amazing fabrics, and awesome quilting designs.

Speaking of quilting, what is your resolution for your craft this year? Do you want to finish more quilts? Do you want to learn more about machine quilting? Do you want to finally stop being afraid of free motion quilting so you can quilt your own quilts yourself?

If so, I have the perfect project for you in 2017! The Machine Quilting Block Party is a monthly mystery quilt along that will improve your machine quilting skills block by block.

Does this quilt block look a little tricky to you? This Blooming Nine Patch quilt block is a fun combination of half square triangles and lots of squares and rectangles that create the vase, stem, and flower of the block. Don't worry - you'll learn how to piece each unit perfectly in the 22 page pattern for Block #1.

When it comes time to machine quilt your block, I've included a full sized quilting diagram in the pattern for you to print, cut out and tape together to mark the quilting design on your block.

I've also included extra templates so you can try new methods of marking your block from the surface. Click Here to find a Quilting Basics tutorial with three easy ways to mark your quilt block.
Why do we mark the quilting design?

When you're first learning how to machine quilt, you have to do so many things at once - move the quilt under the needle, maintain a matching speed with your machine, and quilt the design smoothly over the quilt.

After guiding thousands of quilters through quilt alongs for the past 6 years, I've learned that having a marked design is essential. It takes the guess work out of the design and allows you to focus completely on moving the quilt and balancing your speed to create beautiful stitches.
How do I join the party?

Click Here to buy Block #1 and you'll be ready to go! Make sure to pick up your pattern now while it's on sale for just $4.99.

Let's make 2017 the year you master machine quilting and learn how to quilt your own quilts on your home machine!

Are you ready to party with us? Josh and I have worked very hard on this new quilt along and we hope you enjoy learning how to piece and machine quilt each block of this beautiful mystery quilt with us this year.

Let's go quilt,
