Hi ,
I hope you're having a great week! First, I'd like to share a beautiful quilt from Maggie S., constructed from our Waterfall Bargello Workshop.
Isn't that just gorgeous? My jaw dropped
when I first saw the picture. Great work, Maggie!
Quilters of all skill levels will learn many new techniques
in this fun workshop. Beginner quilters will love learning how cut and piece a complex quilt very quickly.
Josh's First Experience on a Longarm Machine |
I've been having a blast with the Grace Qnique 14+, but I've been wondering if a beginner quilter would have as good a time quilting on this big machine. To test it, I asked Josh to jump on the machine and see what it was like from a beginner
perspective.
Yes, there is a lot of speed in the Grace Qnique 14+ and I trolled Josh a bit at the end by telling him to press the foot
pedal harder. As you can see, his quilting looked pretty good for the first two rows, but when he sped up, his Teeth design got really sloppy because he wasn't ready to handle the high speed, plus moving the quilt, plus forming the Teeth design.
Josh quilted with me through 42 videos in the Building Blocks Quilt Along, but really hasn't done much quilting since. This was the first time he's ever quilted on this machine and I think he did great!
Quilting A Daisy Dresden Plate |
It feels like the whole world is blooming with beautiful flowers this week. However I think I prefer the kind cut from fabric and stitched with thread - they don't produce pollen!
This week we're quilting the Daisy Dresden Plate block for the Machine Quilting Block Party with feathers, echoes, and circles. I tried quilting circles with rulers for the first time and spiced up the center of my block with Microstippling.
I love finding spaces
like that within a block to stitch it up a notch. I also enjoyed the challenge of quilting circles with a big circular template and my ruler foot.
That's it for this week! I hope you have a safe and happy Easter holiday. We're hosting an Easter party so I'm off to find my most cheerful quilts to decorate the house.
Let's go quilt,
Leah Day |
