Exciting News about Leah's New Book

Published: Wed, 10/25/17

Hi ,

We have some great news for you today concerning my new book, Explore Walking Foot Quilting!

First, a correction and apology is in order. Last week we shared a beautiful quilt called Daylily without attributing it to the creator, Judy Pearce of Ontario, Canada. Both Josh and I are very sorry for the oversight!

Good news is Judy has some absolutely beautiful and jaw-dropping quilts which she offered to share with all of us today.

Judy writes, The ones I used the "No Sewing Until You Quilt It" method for are "Daylily", "Hand in Hand" (based on a photo taken of my parents walking together) "Centred" (a life size portrait of a figure skater), "Freedom 55" (fishing boat scene) and my self portrait.

Aren't those quilts just stunning?

We've decided to extend the sale on Ann Holme's No Sewing until You Quilt It for another week.

Preorder Date for Explore Walking Foot Quilting
It's been a long time coming, but we finally have a tentative release date for my new book, Explore Walking Foot Quilting!

In this new book, you'll learn all the basics and beyond and be ready to quilt real quilts with walking foot quilting on your home machine.

But isn't walking foot quilting boring? It's just straight lines...

That might have been what your grandma used her walking foot for, but in this book you'll learn how to quilt so much more than just straight lines.

All year I've been busy creating seven beautiful quilt projects, including a wholecloth quilt I am quite proud of, to prove you can create amazing quilts with walking foot style quilting.
We'll begin taking preorders for both the physical copy of the book as well as the digital download on November 1st. We hope to have the books shipping out to you on or around December 1st.

The official special launch price for the physical copy will be $24.99 and $19.99 for the download version.

You will save shipping charges by opting for the download version, which will be emailed to you automatically when the book begins to ship. This is a great option for our international friends! You'll also be some of the first people in the world with a copy of the new book.

We'll have a lot more information next week when we begin taking preorders so please stay tuned!
Dates for the 2018 Machine Quilting Party Quilt Along
Explore Walking Foot Quilting will also serve as the pattern source for next year's Machine Quilting Party Quilt Along.

So if you need to SEE it to stitch it, we have you covered: each week we'll share a new video walking you through the process of quilting a new design or constructing a new quilt from the book.

Finally, we've decided to bundle together both November and December's block of the month for this year's Machine Quilting Block Party. This way you can complete the Flower Festival Quilt by Thanksgiving if you so desire!
Catch Up with Me on This Week's Podcast
Yes, we are officially moving to a weekly podcast. Every other week we'll continue to meet new quilting friends with interviews. The opposite weeks will be a podcast with me answering a specific quilting question or digging deep on a quilting topic.

So this week I'm tackling the Great Pressing Seam Debate - do you press your seams open or to one side? What is your reason for pressing your seams the way you do?

I find this topic fascinating because it really brings out surprisingly strong opinions in quilters, as you will be able to tell in this podcast. Sorry, but I can't help being a bit bias to my favorite method of pressing seams open!

But I tried to explain the entire topic coming from our quilting roots - hand piecing and hand quilting which continue to guide our craft even today. I hope you enjoy this new type of episode and look forward to hearing from me each week.

That's it for this week! I can't wait to share more pictures and info with you next week on Explore Walking Foot Quilting. I am so proud of this book; I truly think it's going to be one of my best quilting guides yet!

Let's go quilt.
