Hello my quilting friend!
, happy Valentine's Day! I truly hope you have a great day. This week we're finishing up Rainbow Log Cabin by quilting out to the corners, and next week we'll conclude with
binding.
But first, I want to tell you about the sale we're running this week. It's been a while since we ran a download sale, so we're discounting all seven of our video workshops by 25% off their usual price of $24.99.
Batik Fat Quarter Packs Are Back |
I'm pleased to announce our fat quarter pack of six Island Batik fabrics are available again.
This Rainbow Basic collection includes the following colors: Cherry, Nasturtium, Butter, Leprechaun, Waterfall,
Purple.
Learn how to piece and quilt this fun quilt with Leah starting April 2nd.
(Yes, that's correct, I've had to push back the
start date of Prism Path. We'll continue along with Marvelous Mosaic and finish up that project before starting Prism Path.)
This collection of six bright 100% cotton Island Batik fat quarters is the perfect start to a gorgeous fat quarter collection. Each fabric is precut to 18" x 22" which is the perfect size for cutting many shapes for a new quilt.
We only have a limited amount of these fat quarter packs.
Quilting the Corners on the Rainbow Log Cabin |
, we're on the home stretch quilting the Rainbow Log Cabin quilt for the Machine Quilting Party! I hope you've had as much fun as I have piecing and quilting this beautiful quilt this year.
We're quilting through the corners with more Bright Star. This simple straight-line design will fill in these spaces beautifully and best of all, the quilting will feel so much easier because you'll only have a corner of the quilt in the arm of the machine.
I received a lot of
questions about why I quilted the corners the way I did. First I taped and quilted the lines of Bright Star from the center to the outside, then I taped again and quilted the other half from the outside in.
To be honest, this was a bit of a mistake. When you tape designs like this, you need to tape the line you want to quilt last, first and work backwards. When I'm filming a lot of videos in a day, and particularly at the end of a big project like this, I tend to reverse things.
So
I reversed the way the tape should go, but it still quilted the corner beautifully. So it just goes to show there's no right or wrong way to do this!
You'll get a good idea of what our video workshops are like in this week's comprehensive video, shown below.
Let's Walking Foot Quilt Super Wobble |
On Friday we learned how to quilt our sixth walking foot quilting design: Super Wobble.
Super Wobble is our first spiral design we've learned this year. This type of design begins in the center and radiates outward steadily to cover
your quilt with a beautiful texture.
To get started, the best way to begin is to mark the starting Super Wobble shape on your quilt.
No matter whether you're quilting a big quilt or a small square, having the starting shaped marked is essential because the start of the spiral is small and your walking foot is really big.
Without the lines marked, at least in the beginning it will be hard to tell where you are
going.
New Video on the Popular Design Pebbling |
I have a brand new, updated video on pebbling, a very pretty free motion design.
Once again, this video is a great preview of what our workshops are like.
So that's it for this week. I hope you enjoy your Valentines Day and break into your bright, red, and cheerful fabric!
Let's go quilt,
Leah Day |
