Hello my quilting friend!
, I have a super simple, fast and easy walking foot design for you this week and I'm so excited about our new Quilt Along project Prism Path starting on Monday, April
2nd.
The Prism Path baby quilt is a great choice because it's fun to piece and a much smaller project for your home machine.
This bright and cheerful quilt will be completed in six weeks. As it's a baby quilt, it's perfect for a skill building project as well as a gift to a friend or family member with a new baby.
To keep the quilting simple and easy, I opted for one design for each section of the quilt which eliminates
the guesswork so you can focus solely on quilting.
Our first video tutorial for Prism Path will be online Monday morning, April 2nd, found on leahday.com
Gear up with Batik Fat Quarters and Prismatic Thread |
This collection of six bright 100% cotton Island Batik fat quarters is the perfect start to a gorgeous fat quarter collection.
Each fabric is precut to 18" x 22" which is the perfect size for cutting many shapes for a new
quilt. This Rainbow Basic collection includes the following colors: Cherry, Nasturtium, Butter, Leprechaun, Waterfall, Purple. We will be using this beautiful rainbow of batik fabrics in the Prism Path Baby quilt!
I use Isacord thread pretty much exclusively in all of my quilting, and I've selected ten very bright and cheery colors for Prism Path and any other quilt that needs some nice rainbow stitching.
How to Quilt Pinstripes with Your Walking Foot |
If you like straight lines, you will love quilting Pinstripes. This design adds a beautiful, elegant texture to your quilts and it's super easy to quilt.
The Pinstripe effect is created by spacing straight lines closer together, then further
apart.
In the video linked below I spaced the lines 1/4 inch apart then 1 inch apart.
If you don't create a noticeable difference in the spacing, you might not achieve as noticeable an effect.
The easiest way I found to space the lines was to use 1/4 inch masking tape to space the shorter distance and a guide bar on my walking foot to space the wider distance.
Remember to check back on leahday.com on April 2nd for
our first video on Prism Path. Finally, , I wanted to quickly share my absolute favorite pair of scissors.
I use these scissor for cutting all of my fabric for piecing and have found them very comfortable, super efficient, and
reliable.
We've added them to our online store so please check them out!
So many quilters have asked me over the years about my favorite pair of scissors, and these are most certainly it.
Until next week, let's go quilt.
