, have you been thinking about trying ruler foot quilting? Ruler foot quilting hit the quilting scene a few years ago and it's really taken off!
I love how much control and precision I have quilting with rulers and how I can stitch perfectly spaced 1/4-inch lines. Ruler foot quilting is a type of free motion quilting so you can also set the ruler aside and use this foot to stitch Stippling, Paisley, Pebbling, and any of your other favorite free motion quilting filler designs.
This ruler foot is designed to fit all low shank home sewing machines. The high lip and exact ½ inch circular base on this quilting foot allows you to use rulers to guide the quilting design.
Will this foot fit your machine? Yes, if
your machine is compatible with low shank feet. Click Here to contact us for help if you aren't sure.
Leaf Peepers Quilt Along Starts Monday |
Our next quilt along is kicking off in just five days. I hope you'll join in the fun and come leaf peeping with me and Sheri from Whole Circle Studio.
In this new quilt along we will be piecing four beautiful leaf quilt blocks, then connecting them together into a long table runner or square wall hanging. Each Monday both Sheri and I will share new videos to guide you through each step of the piecing process.
Then after the quilt
tops are complete, we're going to quilt them together too. Sheri is focusing on walking foot quilting and I'll be sharing videos about ruler foot quilting and free motion quilting.
By the time we're finished, the leaves will be changing colors and your Leaf Peepers quilt will be the perfect decoration for the fall.
How to Load a Longarm Quilting Frame |
Before I owned a longarm frame, this loading step was always a mystery to me. How do you get all the layers evenly spread out? How does it work and how do you avoid puckers and pleats that are so common with traditional basting?
So many quilters
have written in wondering how this works, and I've put together a video demonstrating all the steps.
I really love quilting on my longarm frame, so much that I've decided to start a new series - Frame Quilting Friday. Make sure to check out the Free Motion Quilting Project blog to find the next video this Friday.
Archiving Our Quilting Facebook Groups |
Today we archived our two quilting Facebook groups. This means if you are a member you will be able to search the group and see older posts and all of the pretty quilt pictures, but the group will be frozen in time and new posts will not be
allowed.
Please understand that this does not mean I will stop making videos or podcasts - in fact I'm going to be greatly increasing the number of videos I share each week. We have the new Leaf Peepers Quilt Along starting this coming Monday, and I have new quilting design
videos as well as the new Frame Quilting Friday videos too.
There are several important reasons why we made this decision, which we've been mulling over for more than two months, and I go into great detail on this week's podcast. To sum it up, the spam, the fake accounts, and various drama was eating too much of our time.
I hope you can understand why we've made this decision and you'll continue to join in the fun with our quilt alongs and tutorials. You can always find our latest quilting videos, podcasts, and tutorials at LeahDay.com.
Until next week, let's go quilt,
Leah Day
