Hi ,
Last week the Free Motion Quilting project turned nine years old. I started sharing my quilting adventure in August of 2009 with a goal to share 365 free motion quilting designs on youtube. So many things have changed since then!
To celebrate our ninth anniversary, Josh and I are putting our video workshops,
books, patterns, embroidery collections, and most of our downloads on sale for 40% off. Please note this sale does not include quilt alongs (like Leaf Peepers) which are already on discount. Click Here to check out the anniversary sale and save 40% on all downloadable books, non-Quilt Along
patterns, and quilting workshops. Your support not only means the world to us but it will really help us out as we prepare for our first bulk order of my new quilting fiction novel Mally the Maker.
Sale ends midnight Monday, August 27th, Eastern time.
Two at a Time Half Square Triangles
|
This week we're diving into the piecing and I am going to teach you how to piece half square triangles.
This method makes two half square triangles out of two squares of fabric, and it's one of my favorite methods for piecing triangles quickly and accurately.
Echo Ditching on a Longarm
|
I wanted to dive deeper into a quilting technique I mentioned two Fridays ago that I call Echo Ditching. I love this easy alternative to stitching in the ditch because it's faster and easier and a lot more forgiving, especially on the
longarm.
Echo ditching is a very easy quilting technique using a ruler as a guide. I used the straight edges of the slice ruler to help me stay exactly 1/4 inch from the seam lines on my diamond shape. Usually when I do echo
ditching, I will quilt 1/4 inch lines to the inside of the shape and also 1/4 inch to the outside.
Dream Goddess: A Quilt 4 Years in the Making
|
I finally finished up a quilt I've been working on for four years, and I thought I'd share the process of finishing this large goddess quilt and share my thoughts about why it has taken so long to complete.
Dream Goddess is a simple
quilt that asks a very important question: what is the life you want to live?
The lesson of this quilt that I keep coming back to again and again is the power of your thoughts. What you think about every day affects how you feel. How you feel affects how you act. And how you act affects yourself, your family, and the world around you.
So in a very real way, your thoughts shape your reality.
Well, that's it for this week. I hope you enjoy the story of Dream Goddess and that you'll take advantage of our 40% off
sale. Now is the perfect time to take a class with me or download a book!
Until next week, let's go quilt.
