Happy Independence Day! I hope you're enjoying this holiday week with your family. We're going to build a bonfire, roast hot dogs, and make smores tonight to celebrate the 4th.
Last month really
flew past along with the Eternal Love Quilt Along. I've shared the last tutorial on free motion quilting three designs: Basic Spiral, Swirling Feathers, and Hot Hot Spiral. Yep, this was a tutorial of three spiraling designs!

We do have a handful of Eternal Love Quilt Kits still available if you'd like to make one this month. The fabric colors are slightly different from what I used above, but it will still create a beautiful quilt. Now that this mini quilt along is done, I'm sure you're
wondering about what's next... I have a really exciting quilt along planned to begin in August with Sheri Cilfaldi Morrill. We've teamed up to create a fun fall-themed quilt and we're going to piece and quilt it together in time for you to use it in
this fall too.
I'll be sharing more details about this new Quilt Along later this month. Be looking forward to this new project starting August 13th!
Make a River Path with Your Walking Foot |
River Path is one of my favorite designs to quilt in borders and sashing. It looks like simple curving lines, but depending on how you set the starting line, it can really look amazing.
To quilt this design, start with a deeply curving line to set
the foundation, then travel stitch and echo to fill in the remaining space.
The entire texture of the design depends on that starting line so it makes sense to plan it out and even mark it on your quilt if you want.
You can also find the original free motion quilting video for this design as well just in case you're wanting to stitch it up a notch and try both types of quilting.
