Ever Piece Quarter Square Triangles?

We continue to piece our blocks in our Leaf Peepers Quilt Along. This week we're working on quarter square triangles.

Grace Rulers Update

Josh and I just wanted to thank everyone for their patience as we wait for new rulers to get back in stock. We're currently back ordered on both our longarm 1/4 inch size and domestic 1/8 inch. We spoke with Grace Company last week and were told the longarm 1/4 inch rulers would ship this week, so hopefully they will be in by Friday or early next week.

Unfortunately, the domestic 1/8 inch rulers are on further back order. We hope to have new stock in by the end of September.

Free Motion Couching on Frame Friday

Speaking of rulers, it's time to jump back on the longarm quilting frame and try something new this week.

I’m experimenting with a new foot set and trying out free motion couching on my Grace Qnique and using the Super Slide Ruler to guide my stitches to. (Yes, fortunately we have a fair supply of 1/4 inch Super Slide rulers so if you're only interested in the one ruler for your longarm you can order one today.)

Now, a little about the feet...

I’m having a blast playing with the attachments in Grace’s 9 piece foot collection. The different bases snap around the metal foot and allow you to do different things.

I’m playing with the couching foot base with the smallest hole in the center in this tutorial, and worsted weight yarn that was dyed a variety of variegated colors.

How to Piece a Dresden Plate Quilt Block

It's Quilty Box time! This month’s box for August 2018 was filled with beautiful fabrics and I realized it was the perfect opportunity to teach you how to make a large Dresden plate block.

To sew the Dresden Plate petals together, simply line them up right sides together and stitch from the outside to the inside of the petal shapes.

Piece the units together in sets of five, and then trim the edges to create a perfect 90° angle. This trimming helps the finished Dresden Plate quilt block set perfectly flat on your quilt and ensures the pieces fit together perfectly.
