I hope you're enjoying the last month of the year and excited to begin quilting along with the Friendship Sampler Quilt! This week I shared a tutorial on how to piece this beautiful Scrappy Star block.

 

 

In order to make this quilt block, you'll first need to piece lots of half square triangles in three different sizes. I also shared an extra quilting tutorial this weekend on how to piece half square triangles two at a time.

 

Now I know it's December and it's a busy time of the year and you might not have time to join the Friendship Quilt Along right now. Please keep in mind that all of my tutorials and the block patterns will remain online indefinitely so you can join anytime.

Remember, no matter how big the quilt you are making, it's always going to be manageable to quilt on your home machine because this is a quilt-as-you-go project. We're going to piece and quilt one block at a time then put the blocks together to make the finished quilt at the very end of the project.

The classic HST takes two squares of fabric and turns them into two half square triangles. The best thing about this triangle shape is you never have to work with an actual triangle. We stitch diagonally over squares to create two right angle triangles.
