Hi ,
Josh and I have a big surprise for you today!
This is a project we've been working on for some time now. Ever since we archived our facebook groups, many quilters have written in asking for an alternative platform where they can share pictures of their quilts, meet other quilters following our Quilt Along, and make friends both locally and all over the world.
I created this new Quilt Friends Club to bring together the people most important to me in a way that’s focused, valuable, and––most importantly––all our own. There’s no question it’s a different approach. I could have created a group somewhere else, but I chose this path for a few key reasons:
-
It’s ours and ours alone. This is a private community of like minded quilters. You ARE my quilting friends! It means the world to me that you wish to support Josh and I and help us continue sharing tutorials and quilting awesomeness online.
-
Its so easy to make new friends here. While we're starting small, this platform makes it super easy for you to make new friends based on your interests, the types of quilts you love, or your location in the world. We can’t get that in free groups or on a website elsewhere.
-
This is so much easier for me. Right now, I’m juggling three websites and three different social media platforms, none of which give me the ability to create an awesome space for community like this. By building this club, I can easily organize my best quilting tutorials to make them easy for you to find and I’m freed up to bring you even better tutorials based on what you're really wanting to see and learn.
Please note this is a subscription service. You can sign up for either $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year. We decided to make this a paid platform because we are charged a monthly fee for the service and paid subscriptions really do keep the group safe and clean, free of trolls, spam, and bots. It's still a lot of work to maintain and ensure a positive, happy environment.

Finally, this platform is available both on your computer as a website: QuiltFriends.Club, and as a mobile app for your phone. Pick the method you like best and enjoy this club whether you're on your computer or on the go. Both interfaces are super user friendly and easy to navigate; honestly, Josh and I were stunned by the quality and ease and we hope you love it as much
as we do!
My hope is this new quilting club has the same feel and wonderful community that I experienced hand quilting at Hart Square!

New Design Undulation Longarm Quilted on Minky
|
On Friday I shared a gorgeous new quilting design called Undulation. It’s very simple, intentionally irregular echoes, but it’s quickly become my favorite design.
The basic idea for Undulation is to quilt repeating, parallel lines. This is just like echo quilting I practiced last week, but with Undulation, the goal is to make the echoes irregular.
Click Here to find the book 365 Free Motion Quilting Designs. This is a beautiful picture book filled with hundreds of quilting designs of every shape and texture you can imagine. This is the perfect book to keep next to your machine. If you can’t figure out what design to quilt next, I’m sure you can find an idea inside.
So that's it for this week's newsletter, . I can't tell you how excited I am about our new Quilt Friends Club. We already have a fair amount of activity and it's so much fun hanging out with everyone and sharing inspiration, pretty pictures, and solid quilting advice. I would love for you to join us too!
Let's go quilt,
Leah Day
