Several weeks ago Dad and I started playing with pantograph quilting designs. I feel like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole - this was such a fun adventure!

 

Pantograph designs are continuous line designs that are used for longarm quilting. Using a laser light or stylus, you follow the design from the back of the machine. The trickiest part of the quilting process is not stitching across the quilt, but advancing the quilt through the frame to evenly space the designs.

 

I honestly found this a lot trickier than I expected and had to spend a good bit of time thinking about the process of advancing the quilt. Ultimately I decided to create a Pantograph Quilting Guidebook to help answer the biggest questions and deal with the most confusing issues with pantograph designs.

I've also released my first set of six pantograph designs! These are all 4-inch repeating designs so they are very narrow and can be used for quilting on a home sewing machine mounted on a frame like the Grace Q-Zone hoop frame.
