Hello  ! I have a fun newsletter for you this week. Over the weekend we took a little trip to Kingsport, TN to check out the venue for our upcoming quilting seminar Quilt Fantastic!

 

Josh and I were thrilled to see the meeting room and this is easily one of the best event spaces I've seen for a quilting seminar. Lots of room, very comfortable chairs, and it's an amphitheater so everyone can clearly see me, plus there's a massive overhead screen that will display a close up video.

 

Just seeing this space made me super excited for Quilt Fantastic! This seminar is taking place on June 22nd and you can sign up for EITHER a morning session on longarm quilting OR an afternoon class demonstrating home maching quitling on a Qzone hoop frame.

I have to say last week's podcast with Todd Dubay on the topic of time lapse quilting was one of my personal favorites. I love filming and all the technical aspects that go with time lapse video. 

 

Unfortunately, we've been experiencing technical issues as of late with both our recording software as well as our editing software. Please forgive the color balance--Todd is red through half, and then I'm green the other half! The good news is you can always listen to the podcast if the color imbalance is too distracting.

 

 

Be sure you listen all the way to the end. Todd is planning an awesome time lapse project which you can be part of too. Todd wants to put together a massive time lapse video of quilters working on their respective quilts. Last week I quilted my Scrappy Pinwheel Block with walking foot quilting. Now I’d like to quilt this block again with rulers on my longarm machine. 

 

Click Here to find this quilt block pattern. This is our 6th block for the Friendship Quilt Along which means we’re nearly halfway done! This block was intentionally designed to be simple and quilted quickly so you can have extra time to catch up on any past blocks if you’ve fallen behind.

 

I used the Slice Quilting Ruler to quilt all of the straight lines within this quilt block. Unfortunately the pattern I choose was hard to remember once I advanced the block through the frame. Watch out for that yourself and make sure to snap a picture of your block so you don’t forget how it was quilted!

 

After checking out the Meadowville Resort and Convention Center for Quilt Fantastic, on Sunday afternoon we picked up our new Champagne D'Argent bunnies. I love these beautiful rabbits. They're born completely black and slowly turn this beautiful silver color as they reach maturity:

It was a beautiful drive from the foothills of North Carolina to the mountains of east Tennessee. Right on the states' border we stopped at an overlook and snapped this pic.

 

James is very much twelve and not in the business of smiling, so this petulant snarl was the best we could get. LOL!
