Ruler Quilting... with a Walking Foot?

Hello my quilting friend!

I'm doing something crazy this week, . I'm attempting to walking foot quilt with rulers on our latest Bear's Claw block in our Friendship Quilt Along.

Unfortunately I don't think this will work with a curved ruler. But it will work with straight edged rulers and be especially helpful if you don't have a guide bar on your foot.

Some Bad News on Longarm Rulers

Unfortunately, we're out of the 1/4 inch thick longarm style quilting rulers. We're very sorry about this due to the monthly promotion going on, but thankfully we'll be able to extend the ruler sale all into July.

Grace Company is working as fast as they can to get more in production and get these rulers out to stores.

We do currently have plenty available in the 1/8 inch home machine size. This thickness works for most home machines with a low shank foot attachment.

Longarm on the Q-Zone Hoop Frame

A few weeks ago I moved my Grace Qnique 15 inch longarm to my smaller Grace Qzone frame. I’m still getting used to using this machine on this smaller frame and I love how much more space I have to quilt in!

I previously had a small Juki F600 on this frame and you can see how that worked in these videos:

So yes, this frame also works with your home machine, but there is one limitation: you won't have much space to quilt in. This is a big reason why I moved my Grace Qnique 15R / 14+ to this frame. I really wanted more space to play and I'm delighted by how easy this feels!

I hope this helps you see how this frame can grow with you as your quilting needs change. You can start out with your home sewing machine on the Q-Zone and then upgrade to the Grace Qnique 15R anytime.

Progress on the Goddess Quilt Book

I also wanted to share a quick update on my new book, Goddess Quilt Journey. I've just finished writing the stories about all the quilts and now I'm starting on the skill building techniques.

No, this won't be a book that teaches you how to make a specific goddess quilt step-by-step. Instead I'm sharing the techniques I used to design master patterns, paint, dye fabric, and more. My hope is this book will give you the tools you need to design and create your own unique quilts.

It's very exciting to be working on this book after wishing and dreaming of writing it for years. I can't wait to share it with you so keep an eye out for more news about this new book coming soon!
