That's right - today is the 10th anniversary of the Free Motion Quilting Project! I started my blog with the goal of sharing 365 free motion quilting designs and to hopefully, someday, somehow also build a quilting business to support my family.

 

The design at right is Shadow Waves, free motion filler design #1, is the one that started it all.

 

501 designs, over 1400 quilting videos, 12 quilt alongs, 10 sewing machines later and we're still going strong!

 

I say "we" because this most certainly is a team effort. Josh joined the business in 2010 and my dad in 2014. I'm so grateful to reach this milestone and I know I wouldn't have been able to do this without having so much help and support from my family.

This week I tackled the Crown of Scraps quilt block and decided to keep it very simple with walking foot quilting. Find lots of tips on this style of quilting as well as stitching in the ditch in this new video:

On Friday I replaced the treadle belt on my Singer 15 Clone after getting a new base for my cabinet. If you have a treadle machine, this is some must-know info! It's not hard to replace a treadle belt, but it's definitely one of those skills that I seem to get better at the more I do it.

 

This has definitely been a big question on my mind this week! I'm very excited about the future as I'm editing Leah Day's Goddess Quilts, a book I've wanted to write for years.

 

 

It's so exciting to see this book of goddess quilts coming together and I can't wait to pull out my camera and play photographer this weekend.
