Have you received lots of "Christmas in July" emails this month? I decided to jump on the bandwagon and share three free quilt patterns that will make great gifts or decorations for your home this holiday season.

Pattern #1 - Wonky Christmas Trees

This improvisational pattern makes whimsical Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes. This is a terrific way to use up strips and scraps from your stash, or slice up fat quarters like I used in this tutorial.

If you don't have a lot of red and green fabric, that's okay. I also made trees from black and white prints and James enjoyed coloring in the lines with fabric markers. This could make for a fun new tradition - coloring a bit of the Christmas quilt every year! Click Here to find this tutorial.

Pattern #2 - Quilted Zippered Pouch

If you need a quick gift, zippered pouches can't be beat! In this video tutorial, I show you how to sew a pouch with a fully lined interior that only needs a little bit of hand stitching to finish one seam. You can make purses of all shapes and sizes and this is a great way to practice free motion quilting too.

I gave my nieces zippered pouches filled with fingernail polish and makeup for Christmas last year and they were a big hit. Everyone needs a little purse to hold something special. Click Here to find the video tutorial.

Pattern #3 - Path in the Snow Quilt Block

I was experimenting with designs from my Sensational Snowflakes embroidery collection when I designed this simple quilt block. Make one and turn it into a pillow, or make sixteen and you'll have a throw sized quilt.

Nope, I haven't shared the video on how to quilt this block yet. Life got in the way... wait, was that more than two years ago? It's on my list to get this little project quilted and turned into a seasonal decoration for my home. Click Here to find this tutorial.
