What if quilt blocks were magical?

 

That may seem like a silly question, but that's exactly what my inspiration was for Mally the Maker and the Queen in the Quilt.

This week I shared an awesome new free motion quilting design called Star Flower Stipple. This design feels very festive with poinsettia like flowers connected with a bit of wiggly Stippling.

 

The best part of this design is how easy and fast it can fill large spaces on your quilts. See what I mean in this new video:

In these new quilting tutorials, I'm first using my Eversewn Sparrow 20 home sewing machine. Then after learning the rules of the design, I switch to my longarm.

 

At the end of the video, I was quilting on my Grace Qnique 15R on the Hoop Frame. This small frame can be set up as a sit down and it only takes up 4 1/2 feet! Click Here to learn more about this frame.

 

I love quilting on both types of machines because they do different things really well. It's easier to quilt tiny, tidy designs on a home machine because I have more control over the quilt block.

 

On a longarm, it's easier and much faster to quilt large designs. It's harder to travel stitch cleanly and yep, this got a bit messy at times. But the ability to cover my quilt with this large scale design so quickly is worth a few messy stitches!

We had one gorgeous day of sunshine last week and I decided to take full advantage of it while sharing the podcast. I pulled a chair out into the yard and soaked in the sunshine while sharing this fun prediction podcast.

 

In between noises of our very proud crowing rooster and James trying to sled with no snow in the yard, I shared my perspective on how much quilting, learning and fabric have changed in the past 10 years. I tried to use that knowledge to predict what is coming next.

 

 

Yes, change is on the way! 10 years ago, there wasn't a lot of information available about quilting online.

 

Now you can learn about anything and everything from how to piece a tiny Hourglass block to how to bind your quilts completely by machine.

 

With so many videos and tutorials and quilt alongs available, it's impossible to watch them all.

 

So I want you to know what helps me the absolute most is if you share my videos with your friends.
