It’s hard to believe it’s nearly June and the 4th of July, one of my favorite holidays, is right around the corner! This year I’m celebrating with several patriotic quilt blocks in red, white, and blue and this is our first – a Patriot Star.

 

This also happens to be one of the most complex mini blocks we've made so far so if you're in the mood for a challenge, this block is for you!

I went a bit patchwork unit crazy on this block. You'll make tiny 4 at a time Half Square Triangles, then turn them into a Square in a Square. Then you'll piece 4 at a time Flying Geese to surround the center and finish your pretty star block.
