We’re nearly finished with our Dream Big Quilt Along and this week I have a beautiful design to share with you. This Chain of Pearls design is quilted with a combination of ruler quilting and free motion quilting.

Chain of Pearls will be the most time consuming design in this quilt along. Circles always take more time to quilt because they are slower to visualize and stitch on your quilts. Be sure to go slow when first stitching the smooth curves with the Super Slide or Mini Slide Rulers, then fill in the gap spaces with a row of circles as shown in the picture below.

 

One of my favorite blocks from our Mini Block Monday series has got to be this fun little Spool Block! It’s super cute, easy to piece, and you can show off your favorite fabrics in the center square. You'll also learn how to piece 4-at-a-Time Half Square Triangles too.

But here’s a snapshot of the patchwork pieces to get you started in case you don't want to be hitting pause throughout the video:

This block is pieced with four Half Square Triangles. I could have continued to make these with the normal two-at-a-time method I’ve used for years, but I decided to shake things up and try a new method to make 4 at a time from a second of rectangles. Watch the video to see how it works, then trim the HSTs to measure 1 1/4 inches square.
