Last year I got an interesting comment on my Bears Claw Block tutorial for the Friendship Quilt Along.  Laurie said, “I’ve never seen a bear with 8 claws per paw, LOL!”

 

This week’s tiny Bears Claw Quilt Block is a bit more realistic:

Looking for a pattern for this Bears Claw quilt block? It’s all in the video! I’ve included all the piecing instructions in the video itself. Just hit “pause” when you need to and write down the pieces to cut.

 

As always, here’s a snapshot of the patchwork pieces to get you started:

This Bears Claw Quilt Block is very easy to piece. First you’ll make four Half Square Triangles using the 4 at a Time Method. Trim down your HSTs to measure 1 1/2 inches square.

 

Then arrange your units into rows and piece them together. Here’s what it looks like when you finish piecing your Bears Claw Quilt Block:

I have a fun video to share with you today on machine quilting on the Janome 1600P. This high speed, straight stitch machine is quickly becoming my favorite for free motion quilting and ruler quilting because it’s so fast and makes such a perfect stitch!
