It's crazy how fast this month has flown by and how busy Josh and I have been getting ready for our new baby girl. I've just hit the 6 month mark and I'm finally feeling creative again!
This week I cut out this pair of pants, decided on impulse to add a bit of machine embroidery, and finished the entire project in less than an hour. It was so fun to make something so cute out of a very old pair of jeans.
Now you might be wondering about the size. This was a terrific piece of advice from my Mother-in-Law, Ellen. Back when I was pregnant with James, she continually advised me to buy bigger on maternity clothes (something I wish I'd remembered earlier this time around!) and to buy 12-18 month old pants.
The bigger pants fit much longer and are much easier to put on a newborn wiggly baby. James had a pair of pants as a baby that ended up fitting until he was in first grade.
So I'm mostly sewing our baby girl larger sizes in pants and nightgowns so they will fit longer and provide us with more cute memories and fun times. I love how fast I can sew a project like this and that is definitely helping me feel more creative.
If you've been feeling a lack of creativity lately, consider trying a different technique or start a project that you can finish fast - in an hour or two from start to finish. Going from cutting to sewing to happily finished definitely got my creative juices flowing for more little projects like this for our baby girl.
