I'm a very practical quilter - once I find the thread, fabric markers, and techniques that work for me, I stick with them, year after year, quilt after quilt. Many years ago, I began using Pinmoors to baste my quilts and I'm so delighted to have these back on the site and available again! 

Pinmoors allow you to baste your quilt using straight pins - which is much faster and easier on your hands than using bent safety pins. Quickly press the flat side of the Pinmoor over the sharp end of a pin. They anchor securely as the self healing silicone grips the end of the pin and locks it in place.

Why Magic Pins? I used to use flower head pins and they worked great, but occasionally the flower heads would fall off. Magic Longarm Pins are much sturdier - designed to pin quilts to leader cloth - and a great choice to use for basting your quilts for years to come.

How to Baste Your Quilts with Pinmoors

Basting with straight pins is super easy, but you may want to watch the process just to see how it works:

This is an older video from when I used flower head pins. You'll need to put some force behind bending the Magic Pins - they are very sturdy! By bending the straight pins, they will be easier to insert in your quilt, pop up to the right side and cap with the Pinmoors.

You Know It's Time To Innovate When...

Piecing, basting, quilting—every step is a chance to learn something new. If you’re struggling with a tricky project or frustrated with how slow or difficult a task feels, remember that every quilter faces these challenges. 

It's up to you to decide if a new machine or moving to a quilting frame is the right solution for your quilting needs. For me, the biggest sign that I'm needing to innovate and change my process is if I'm feeling bored.
