Keep Quilting through the Holidays

News from Leah Day
Hi ,

With Veteran's Day just past and Thanksgiving just around the corner, the hectic holiday season is quickly approaching. This is always a wonderful time of the year for getting together with family and cooking and especially eating great food.

But all the hustle and bustle usually leaves little time for quilting. This year I'm making a point to start the day with a bit of time on the machine, so I don't find myself halfway through December going through quilting withdrawal!

Best of all, I'm working on a wonderful project this season - Duchess Reigns - a new goddess wholecloth quilt that is shaping up to become my favorite quilt so far. This week I've shared a post about this quilt and the process of marking and stitching out samples to gauge the effects.

Read more about Duchess Reigns it right here.

So just remember when you're feeling overwhelmed by too many holiday parties to pour yourself a glass of egg nog and find some time on your machine to quilt something beautiful this season.

This week on the Quilt Along we're busting through quilts super quickly with another beautiful design. Sunflower will fill your quilt with bold texture and a dynamic design while covering lots of space at the same time.

If you have a quilt that needs to be finished in the next 2 weeks, make sure to watch this video tutorial and consider adding a bit of Flower Power to your project!

Craftsy Class Review
I've been blown away by the wonderful response to my new Craftsy Class Free Motion Quilting a Sampler.

This fun class is helping hundreds of quilters learn how to quilt many beautiful designs on a soft, bed sized scale within the Craftsy Block of the Month Quilt.

Here's a recent quilter review of the class and all she learned by taking it:

Thank you Leah so much for this class. I just finished watching the whole thing and I am so amazed that you did not leave out one thing that I can think of at this moment. You have covered every single step from start to finish a quilt. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will go back to these lessons every time I make a quilt. ~ Mary

If you're wanting all your free motion quilting questions answered in one place, and the opportunity to interact with me on a daily basis, make sure to sign up for this new class!

UFO Sunday - KISS
Are you still working through your UFO bins? This week I was reminded of a phrase Josh often says to me - KISS - Keep it Simple Stupid.

I have a bad tendency to complicate things. Instead of making a simple 9 patch, I turn it into a pinwheel block and make 3 instead of 1! As easy as a task could be, I have a habit of finding the hardest way to do it.

So this week I'm reminding myself over and over to keep it simple. The simplest solution is often the fastest and most efficient.

Read more about this post right here on UFO Sunday - KISS.

So that's it for this week!

Now it's time to keep things simple, have fun with family, but still get some stitching time in between roasting turkey and baking a cookies.

Let's go quilt!
