Spring Fever is Bad for Quilting!

News from Leah Day
and the Free Motion Quilting Project
Hi ,

Is it just me or is spring fever bad for quilting or what?! I don't get struck with the usual fever to get out and garden. Instead I get revved up to remodel my house! Regardless, the urge to get off the machine and get something else done is definitely going to result in a lot less quilting!

Still it's good to honor the flow of the year and despite giving in to the urge to rebuild James's closet, I'veĀ  posted a few new new videos on picking fabric color, playing with decorative stitches, and a cool technique called Trapplique!

Let's see what all has been posted on the project to catch up completely:

23. How to pick the perfect fabric color - In this video I run through the steps I used to pick the fabric color for the body in Express Your Love. It's pretty simple - shoot photos and look at them!

FMQ Friday: Put a Smile in it - It's a silly Friday and I'm remembering to smile and lighten up with my family.

Reading Guilt as Guilt - Ever quilt all day and feel great, but then get pulled down by a wave of guilt? I finally realized I was dealing with a viscous cycle and determined to end it this weekend.
24. Learn how to stitch with decorative monograms - All those wonderful decorative letters in your machine can now be used to stitch fun phrases on your quilts!

Spring is here! Where's my Crowbar? - I've been hit by spring fever big time. Check out this post to see just how ripped out and messy my house is right now!

25. Trapplique: Part 2
- Let's finish up that trapplique with zigzaging and satin stitching for a perfect finish.

When You're Not Gardening...
It's sprintime and I know many quilters are turning off the machine and heading outside to garden and enjoy the beautiful weather.

But in your downtime, why not take a cool class on free motion quilting you can watch anytime, any place, and for the rest of your life?

My latest Craftsy class, Free Motion Fillers Volume 1 is a great fit for anyone wanting to learn more designs and have a simple project to stitch them all into quickly.
Included with the class is a pattern for this simple quilt. You piece it, baste it, and in class we'll quilt it together and learn 50 designs!

Learn more about Free Motion Fillers Volume 1 and get 50% off if you sign up for this class today!

That's it for this week! I'm headed back upstairs to measure James's closet one last time. Who knew closets could be so complicated to design?!

Let's go quilt,
