Quilting and Painting a Beautiful World

We're definitely in High Quilting Season here in NC! It's cold, wet, and rainy this week and this type of weather makes it an easy choice to pull on thick socks and cuddle up on the machine with a fun quilting project.

We're definitely pulling out the fun this week with three new videos on Express Your Love.

First we tackled the Earth section with a new design called Echo Edge Stitching. Basically you pick any line as the foundation and echo it repeatedly until the entire space is filled.

While the echo stitching was beautiful, I knew this area needed a bit more color so this week we pulled out the paints!

#4. Painting over quilted fabrics teaches you how to paint over the stitched and unstitched areas of the Earth.

Of course, there's always multiple options for any technique. In video #5 we're learning how to quilt back over the painted fabric. Quilting over painting is a bit tricky because the fabric is thicker and stiffer, but the effect is absolutely gorgeous!

Local Workshop at Sew Much Fun, Gastonia NC

I love to teach in person almost as much as I love teaching online, but rarely get the chance because I just don't like to travel away from my family.

I'm excited to announce that I will be teaching a local workshop in Gastonia, NC at Sew Much Fun, a fantastic fabric store and Bernina dealership. The class will be on Saturday, March 2nd from 9 - 4.

I probably won't be teaching any other in-person classes this year so if you want to hang out for a day together, this is your chance!

Closed for Update

We'll be closing the online store from Sunday January 20th to Friday January 25th to update some new products coming in the site and give my husband, Josh, a bit of a break for his birthday.

My husband does a wonderful job packing orders and answering customer email for the site, but this year I really wanted him to take the week to rest and relax and enjoy his birthday.

Of course, we will still be checking email and answering all customer order concerns during this time, and you will still be able to place orders on the site, but orders will not ship until Friday, January 25th.
