Quilting Pretty Colors

News from Leah Day
Hi ,

Whew! Despite the cold, nasty weather this month, January has certainly stacked up to be one busy time for stitching through many projects.

This month we've made great progress on Express Your Love, learning how to quilt words and many filler designs. Since I missed sending last week's newsletter, let's catch up on all the posts for the last 2 weeks:

McTavishing
- This beautiful flowing design was actually the 2nd design I ever learned how to quilt. The amazing texture is the perfect addition to any space within our project quilt.

Working through Small Spaces - While quilting McTavishing, I turned the camera back on and shot a second video showing how I quilted through many small spaces all at once without breaking thread.

This week we're playing with color and design intensity and seeing just how dynamic a design can be on the surface of your quilt.

Micro-Zippling
- Zippling is what happens when Stippling goes zigzaggy! This angular design was quilted in the background with a new color of thread so you can see that this particular design has a low intensity - it's not going to stand up and shout at you from the surface of the quilt.

Boomerangs - This design is definitely high-intensity! Lots of travel stitching and thread play make this design stand out boldly. Even though both designs were quilted with the same color of Isacord Brick Thread, they have a totally different effect on the surface of the quilt:
We're going to continue playing with thread color and many interesting designs over the next few weeks so make sure to stop by the Free Motion Quilting Project whenever you're needing your fix of texture and color!
New DVD Coming Soon!
We're happy to announce a new DVD coming soon to the Day Style Designs Quilt Shop. Free Motion Quilting from Flames to Feathers will feature 33 designs stitched over a beautiful Squares and Sashing quilt.

Along with this new DVD, we are re-releasing the book Free Motion Quilting From Feathers to Flames with a new look and redesigned interior!

This mini book is the perfect companion to your sewing machine and can provide helpful inspiration whenever you're struggling to pick a design.

Best of all, this new book will be bound with red spiral binding, so it will always lay flat on your table and be easy to spot on your bookshelf!

Keep your eyes peeled for this new DVD and redesigned book coming soon in March.

That's it for this week! Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
