News from Leah Day
Hi ,
I'm super sorry for missing the newsletter last week! It's been a crazy couple of days as Josh and I put the finishing touches on our new website and run tests to make sure everything is working properly.

We've been working on this project together all summer, and this, combined with multiple monster quilt projects, led me to write an article this week titled Wanted: A Project I Can Finish in 1 hour or less.
The good news is I have found several delightful projects I can finish quickly - chocolate chip cookies, blueberry muffins, and steak dinner!

Yes, instead of launching myself into even more quilting projects, I've decided to dedicate my evenings to baking and cooking. While it's not nearly as fun as quilting, it is satisfying to start and finish a project in 30 minutes and then enjoy eating it at the end!

Now let's check in to the Free Motion Quilting Project! Lately we have been making steady progress on both the pieced version of Express Your Love and many new free motion quilting designs. Here's a list of some of the videos and articles published to the project in the last two weeks:

FMQ Friday: Something to Listen to while quilting - I usually listen to audiobooks while quilting, but lately I've been listening to the TED radio hour, an excellent radio show that compiles several fascinating TED talks into an hour long show.

45. Learn how to Foundation piece Diagonal Curves - We've finished the pieced background for Express Your Love and now it's time to foundation piece each hair section! In this video you will learn the most simplistic foundation piecing arrangement of diagonal strips.
46. Learn how to quilt Happy Stitch - Need some cheering up today? This silly design of smiley faces is super to fit the bill!

Tales from the Background Quilt
- This month I've started work on a quilt that will hang in the background of my videos. So far this panel features hand dyed fabric, multiple filler designs, and painting on top of quilting to create the eye catching background design.

47. How to Create a Scrappy Mix of Colors - Mixing color is a must for most quilting designs and in this video I show you how to mix multiple shades of a single color together to create a scrappy collection of one color.

Find all of these articles and videos about quilting right here on the Free Motion Quilting Project.

Now for a little hint about what's coming next week!

Next week is the 4th anniversary of the Free Motion Quilting Project and we're celebrating big time this year with a new DVD, new website, and of course, special sale!

Keep an eye out for next weeks newsletter for news about the big event!

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
