Quilting Secrets and Surprises

News from Leah Day
Hi ,
Do you like secrets or surprises? I love surprises, but I definitely can't keep a secret, especially if it's something fun and exciting to share!

This week I'm going to let you in on a few secrets and surprises I've been working on for several weeks. We've got a huge sale in the works for Thanksgiving, new products that will be launching over the next two months, and an awesome new project for the Free Motion Quilt Along for 2014.

Like I said, I can't keep a secret, so why try?!

But before I start spilling the beans, let's check in with the Free Motion Quilting Project and see what designs and articles have been posted this week:
This beautiful design is Modern Weave, and it's all straight lines and sharp angles, and should fill your quilts up quite quickly. If you've got a project that needs to be finished in time for the holidays, Modern Weave might be your ticket to a timely finish.
Beginner Tip Tuesday #4 with Josh Day
This week Josh shared a tip perfect for beginners that are struggling to quilt right to the edge.

The fact is, the edges of a quilt are pretty tricky places where you can't easily get a grip on the fabric. Personally I add 1 inch of space to individually quilted blocks and the outer borders of a quilt just so I don't have to quilt right to the edges.

Josh wants to take this a step further and add even more space. His reasoning? We've got more than enough fabric already, why not use it?

Upcoming Sale and New Products Coming Soon
We've been gearing up all week to get ready for our biggest sale of the year! We're launching the party early on Thanksgiving Day, with huge discounts all weekend and through to Cyber Monday.  So if you're in need of quilting tools and supplies make sure to hang out for another week and wait until the sales start on Thanksgiving day (Thursday, 11/28)

New products are also on their way to the quilt shop. We will be re-releasing the Download version of Free Motion Basics For Beginners, this time expanded into a 24 page PDF, complete with more images, practice exercise guides, and templates to guide your first steps into free motion quilting.

Also coming soon is our first embroidery CD produced by Janome America! This disc contains 50 beautiful designs from the Free Motion Quilting Project. The designs will be available in the following formats: exp, pes, pcs, dst, hus, jef, xxx. Keep a look out for this new CD coming soon in the Quilt Shop!

Finally, the last big secret I've been keeping under wraps is our project for the Free Motion Quilt Along next year. I've been listening to quilter's all year and specifically focusing on what questions are still not being properly answered about free motion quilting.

The #1 thing I've found is confusion about choosing designs. What goes where? How do you know, and then how do you quilt it quickly and logically without fuss?

We're going to answer all of these questions next year as we piece and quilt the blocks of a beautiful sampler quilt called Building Blocks. Look forward to new videos posted every Monday of the week for the entire year!

I'll be posting more information about this project and the Building Blocks Quilt Pattern which will be coming to the Quilt Shop very soon.

Whew! I feel a lot better with all those secrets out in the open. It's exciting to plan and design these wonderful projects, but even better to be able to share exactly what's going on and what's coming soon!

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
