Wiggly Pasta and New Basting Kit

Published: Thu, 02/27/14

HiĀ ,
It's the last week of February and we're finishing up our last 9 patch block with Wiggly Pasta and more wiggly U shapes!

We started learning how to quilt this design last week with the design video #427. Free Motion Quilting Wiggly Pasta. In this video I demonstrate quilting the design into a small 4 inch block.
This design is simple enough to quilt without marking, and the overlapping nature makes it perfect for hiding small mistakes within the lines of quilting.

Next, we took this Wiggly Pasta design and learned how to quilt it within the four squares in our 9 patch quilt block. Make sure to check out the video for tips on flowing through this area super quickly in post 8. Quilt a 9 Patch with Wiggly Pasta.
Josh gave Wiggly Pasta a try too this week, but his blocks had all the lines marked because he's using the cheater cloth fabric. With the marked lines, this design can be a little more difficult to remember where you're going and not get lost in all the wiggly lines. Make sure to watch Josh's video for tips on quilting Wiggly Pasta using marked lines.
Printed Pattern Error
This week it came to our attention that a batch of Building Block Printed Patterns were incorrect - the printer had shrunk the file and printed all the quilting guides smaller than required.

If you placed an order for a Building Blocks PRINTED pattern from Feb 11th - Feb 24th, you will be receiving a new copy of the printed pattern as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for this mistake and will make every effort to correct it immediately.

All new printed Building Block Quilt patterns will be triple checked to ensure printing accuracy so this issue will not happen again.
Baste Your Quilt Kit
We've received a lot of questions this year about the pins and Pinmoors I use to baste my blocks for the Building Blocks Quilt Along, so we've decided to combine them into a new kit!

Click here to check out the Baste Your Quilt Kit!

This kit comes with a 100 pack of Clover Flower Head Pins and a 100 pack of Pinmoors. To baste with these tools, simply bend a flower pin slightly with your fingers, then insert it through the three layers of your quilt.

Cap the end of the pin with a Pinmoor to keep the pin in place and secure it to the surface of your quilt. Pinmoors are made out of non-toxic silicone - the same material as baby pacifiers - which has a unique self-healing ability. No matter how many times you stick pins into a Pinmoor, they will still hold securely.

The average baby quilt (45" x 60") can be basted with one Baste Your Quilt Kit. To baste larger quilts, you will need multiple kits to cover the entire surface.
