Quilting Gridlines and How to Hide Loose Threads

Published: Wed, 01/22/14

HiĀ ,
It's been another busy week on the Free Motion Quilting Project! This week we're tackling straight line quilting to make Gridlines:
Click here to read the post and watch the video on free motion quilting Gridlines, our second quilting design for the four patch block.

Josh also gave gridlines a try, and even though he found this design a bit tedious, he learned a lot about moving the quilt on the machine. I also jumped into this video and showed how to secure your loose threads and explained a few issues that are happening with Josh's blocks. Watch Josh's video right here.
Just a quick reminder - you can get started on this project anytime and work at your own pace. The videos will remain online even after 2014, so feel free to get going any time you like!

Whew! I seem to be ending each week slightly out of breath, but excited and thrilled to be connecting so many excited quilters from around the world. I just wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone that has jumped into this quilt along with such enthusiasm.

With over 1000 members actively posting photos in the facebook group, and many more commenting and liking videos on YouTube or blogger, it feels like we've created more than just a fun project to work on, but a community with the goal of learning and building one another up.

I simply love being able to teach so many people how to piece and quilt, so THANK YOU for liking this project, sharing it with your friends, and enthusiastically participating. I can't wait to see what we create together!

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
