Speaking of awesome quilting tools, have you checked out the Queen Supreme Kit?If moving the quilt on your machine feels like a real drag, you need to invest in tools that make this job easier. This kit comes with three terrific tools that can make free motion quilting so much easier:Queen
Supreme Slider - The special Teflon sheet is super slick on the top, but grippy on the bottom so you can attach it to your machine and table top easily before quilting. By reducing all the friction between the table top and the quilt, you will now be able to move the quilt much easier, and with far less strain on your arms, shoulders, and
back.
Little Genie Magic Bobbin Washers - Are you tired of your thread breaking
constantly? These little Teflon washers pop inside your bobbin case (both top and side loading) and help the bobbin spin more evenly. Using these washers will help reduce minor tension issues, backlash, and birds nests from forming as you quilt.
Machingers
Quilting Gloves - Get a grip! Machingers are lightweight nylon gloves with rubber tips that grip the surface of the quilt, allowing you to move it exactly where you want it to go. Students trying these gloves in class have often reported instantly feeling "in control" over their quilts. Personally I can't quilt without them and often wear these gloves even when piecing and binding to help maintain a solid grip on the fabric with less
strain on my hands. The regular cost of these three tools is over $85.00, but you can pick up a Queen Supreme Kit today for just $75.00, plus an additional 15% off this week only. Click here

Now let's catch up on the Building Blocks Quilt Along! Just in case you've just joined this newsletter, this is a fun quilt along project designed to help you learn both piecing and free motion quilting every week this
year.
Through free online videos and a super active Facebook Group, you can watch every step of this quilt's process and work block by block at your own pace.
This project is designed for brand new beginning quilters. The blocks are mostly simple and mostly traditional names you will recognize like 4 Patch, 9 Patch,
Pinwheel, and Disappearing 9 Patch.
First you learn how to piece a block, then you'll learn how to free motion quilt it 3 to 4 different ways. We work block by block together with this quilt-as-you-go project so you can gain loads of experience without having to struggle with a big quilt on your home sewing machine.
In order to join in this fun program, all you need is a copy of the Building Blocks Quilt Pattern. This pattern comes with cutting and piecing information, plus 42 full size quilting guides so you can mark the designs on your blocks. For this pattern, we offer a download version, which you can download immediately and
print yourself. The only downside is this 100 page pattern is pretty big to print! Click here to check out the download version. If you'd rather not fuss with downloading the file or printing it the correct size, we also offer a PRINT version which comes with all the pages and guides you need to get started and all printed the correct
size. Click here to check out the PRINT version. With the pattern in hand, you can select fabrics and start cutting, piecing, and quilting each block. Find all the free videos published for this quilt along right here. Now let's catch up on the latest posts for this quilt along! Last week we learned the final design in our Pinwheel Blocks and this week learned how to piece block #7. Josh's quilting process is also made a bit easier because he's using the Building Blocks Cheater Cloth fabric. This fabric is designed with all 42 blocks printed, including the quilting lines, so all you have to do is
cut the blocks apart, baste them, and get started quilting. This is a great choice for quilters interested in building skills for quilting, but not so interested in piecing all the blocks for this quilt. You can find multiple colorways of the Building Blocks Cheater Cloth right here at
Spoonflower.com.This week we've jumped right into the week of July learning how to piece the next block in the series - a Disappearing 9 Patch: |
