Come Learn with Me at MQX in April
|
Registration officially started for MQX East and I would love to see you there!
This is my first time teaching at a big, national show and I'm so excited to to be able to teach three classes and a lecture
during this event.
A bit about MQX East - it's located in Manchester, New Hampshire at the Center of New Hampshire Radisson Hotel.
Classes will be held from April 8th to 11th, 2015.
Here's a bit about the classes I'm teaching:
Free Motion Quilting from Feathers to Flames - In this class we will learn around 30 free motion
filler designs from my book Free Motion Quilting from Feathers to Flames.
We’ll spend extra time focusing on beautiful feather and flame designs, and discuss many ways to use these designs in real quilts. All skill levels welcome! This class will be taught twice on Wednesday and Saturday.
Fill with Feathers: Blocks, Sashing, Borders - Do you love feather quilting
designs but feel completely confused by how to use them in real quilts? In this class you will learn how to quilt several feather filler designs, then how to use them in multiple ways within quilt blocks, sashing, and borders.
Life Journey through Goddess Quilts - I'm pulling out all my girls for this lecture! Come see the entire goddess collection and hear the stories behind each quilt - the success and failures and continual learning experience of life and quilt
making.
The BEST thing about MQX is the machines are all provided for you! If you're traveling from a great distance or you're like me and hate moving your machines, this is a great way to travel, learn, and build new skills.
Beautiful Building Blocks Quilts
|
I've had the pleasure of viewing so many beautiful finished Building Blocks quilts over the last week. So many quilters finishing their Building Blocks quilts this month we decided to hold a little contest and giveaway. When you finish your quilt, just share a blog post about it on your blog, or post it to Pinterest, and then link it up on this Building Blocks Gallery Page.
Each Friday I'm using a random number generator to pick a winner for a free copy of the new Dancing Butterfly Quilt Pattern. So make sure to finish your quilts and link up for a chance to win!
Here are just a few of the gorgeous finished quilts members of our Quilt Along have
shared: So if you have a finished Building Blocks quilt you'd love to share, please link up and you could win a free copy of our next Quilt Along! Of course, not everyone has a blog or a pinterest account, so if you can't get your photos posted, please feel free to contact us here and I'll post your picture and story for
you.

Josh has been busy working on our family cookbook--we are so excited about this project! So many great memories are coming back as we sort through our old recipes. Our goal is to have the book available early next year.
Here is
a sample recipe which is one of our favorites, and it's perfect for this time of year.
Cast Iron Corn Bread
1 ½ cups self-rising cornmeal ½ tsp kosher salt 1 ¼ cups whole milk 2 Tbs bacon grease
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. Add bacon grease to cast iron skillet and place in fully heated oven for 2 minutes. While the skillet is heating, add cornmeal, salt, and milk in a bowl and stir and whisk until thoroughly blended. When
skillet is hot, wear a heavy duty oven mitt and remove the skillet from the oven. Pour the warm bacon grease from the pan into the corn bread batter. Stir quickly to incorporate. Pour batter into skillet where it will pop and sizzle and place back in the oven. Immediately reduce heat to 450 degrees F. Bake for around 20 minutes or until the corn bread is golden brown.
Until next time, let's go quilt!
