Everything in the store is on sale except our sewing tables and custom inserts. This is the perfect time to try our new Quilting Back Support, which is helping both Josh and I improve our posture while working online and quilting. We also have Lite Steam a
Seam 2, the lightweight fusible web used in my Dancing Butterfly Quilt, back in stock and can easily get new supply within a matter of days, instead of the previous period of weeks. Quilters have been reporting this product is very difficult to find; in fact, it's only recently come back on the market.
We're going to be jumping right into free motion quilting the Dancing Butterfly Quilt next week so this is a great time to invest in the tools that make this easier on your home sewing machine. The Queen Supreme Kit comes with the three tools I use every day: a Queen
sized slider, bobbin washers, and Machingers gloves.
We've spent a lot of time investigating alternative designs, colorways, and applique methods for the Dancing Butterfly Quilt. This week I experimented with creative ways to form the butterfly antennae and ended up adding some extra bling to my
blocks!
This will be our last experimental post for Dancing Butterfly. Next week we're going to jump right into free motion quilting
with a series of tip posts to get you started, then begin sharing short design videos twice a week.
Remember, it's never too late to join Dancing Butterfly or our previous project, Building Blocks! These quilt alongs will remain online and active forever so you'll always be able to join in the fun and work at your own pace.
Free Motion Design #441 - Love Butterfly
|
Butterflies are definitely on my mind these days and for this week's design I used simple shapes to form a cute butterfly filler design.
Love Butterfly is created with easy heart shapes and rows of echo quilting to build up the design. I
think this design would look great quilted randomly over a girly baby quilt with bright thread colors!
Take a Class with Me in Concord, NC

In this class you will learn how to quilt several feather filler designs, then how to use them in multiple ways in your quilts. We will largely focus on understanding different feather filler designs and how to place them within blocks, sashing, and borders. Half
the feathers we stitch in class will require marking and the other half will be quilted free hand with only minimal marking.
This class is designed for students familiar with free motion quilting and already capable of producing balanced stitches when quilting.
Let's go quilt,
