Leah's Quilting With a Walking Foot?

Published: Wed, 02/04/15

HiĀ ,

Are you ready to start free motion quilting? This week we're digging into the basics of free motion to kick off learning new designs in the Dancing Butterfly Quilt!

Click Here to read Free Motion Quilting Tips to learn all about the settings and tools I use for free motion quilting every day.
To put the tools and settings to the test, yesterday we learned how to quilt Paisley on a larger scale in an 8 inch block.

I've shared not only a new video, but also real life examples of this designed stitched out by members of the Dancing Butterfly Facebook Group. Click Here to read about Paisley and see how other quilters are getting along with this design.
But what if free motion just isn't your thing? Last week I did something I haven't done in over 7 years - I quilted with a walking foot! I was curious to see if I could quilt some free motion designs with a walking foot and it turned out great.

Did you enjoy this video? Would you like to see more videos about machine quilting with a walking foot?

I'm curious and definitely intrigued to see what I can do with walking foot and if you're interested, I'll definitely turn on a camera and share my adventures with you.
Speaking of adventures, this week I've also shared the February post for Quilt Shop Gal's 2015 FMQ Challenge! By participating in this challenge you can learn loads about free motion quilting and enter to win awesome prizes from sponsors.

This month I've shared a tutorial that takes one of the Dancing Butterfly Blocks and turns it into an 18 inch pillow with a button back. Click Here to check out the post.

To make the pattern affordable for everyone who wants to make it, we've set the DOWNLOAD version of Dancing Butterfly Quilt Pattern to 50% off for the entireĀ  month of February!

So if you've been on the fence about this project, now is the time to jump right in and start quilting along with us. Quilting is definitely a fun adventure and it's never too late to try something new, or try something old in a new way.

Let's go quilt,

Leah Day
