HiĀ ,
Ever have a huge secret that you couldn't tell anyone about for months and months?
That's exactly how I felt this spring as I began working on a new class with Craftsy~ Thankfully we're now just
four days from the launch of this new class and I can finally let the quilts out of the bag and tell you all about it!
My new class - The Quilting Effect is very different from the other classes I've taught on Craftsy. I really wanted to dig into quilting design and discuss many ways to free motion quilt different styles of pieced and appliqued quilt
tops.
First we'll learn about All Over Quilting on a scrappy style tumbler quilt. I share tips on quilting with speed and efficiency. Sometimes the most important thing is not quilting an elaborate, over-the-top design, but quilting the quilt to get it done on time.
Next we'll learn multiple ways to quilt an asymmetrical star quilt with lots of background space. How would you quilt this star? Do you look at all that background space and draw a
blank? Don't worry - after this class you will have three solid ways to beautifully quilt background spaces! Finally the last quilt is all about applique. If you've struggled to pick designs to quilt around, or even inside your applique shapes, you'll love the last two lessons in the class.
I quilted each of these quilts THREE different
ways (whew!) to create totally unique, beautiful effects on the surface.
If you've been asking yourself - how do I quilt that quilt? Where do I start? What will that design look like on the surface? then this class will definitely help you start answering those questions with confidence.
This class goes live Saturday so be sure to stop by the Free Motion Quilting Project Saturday morning to find a special discount link to join this new class! Yes, I do deal with negative people online and often receive hateful emails and nasty comments from this newsletter, on the blog, Facebook, and YouTube.
Many times quilters are surprised to hear that I receive negative, trollish
messages, but I've worked online long enough to know that no matter how nice and giving you are, there will always be people ready to complain and cut you down about something.
So how do we deal with negativity? I admit in the past I often let a single bad comment ruin my whole day or week. I would obsess about what that person said, completely ignoring the multiple comments and emails that arrive at the same time with positive
messages.
